Repeal the Tax on Retirement Income

After a decade-long fight, tax relief for Michigan retirees is on the horizon.

The House and Senate passed historic bills in January to eliminate the unfair taxation of retirement income. House Bill 4001 phases out over four years the 2011 tax increases on pension income enacted in 2011. Senate Bill 1 phases out the 2011 tax increases on pension income starting in the 2023 tax year.

Because of their differences, the House bill now goes to the Senate for consideration and the Senate bill goes to the House for consideration.

Join MARSP in urging legislators to finally push tax relief across the finish line!
