Remove Chemical Abortions from UMass Amherst Campus

As of July 2022, Chemical Abortions have been available through University Health Services at UMass - Amherst. Chemical Abortion (also known as RU-486, medical abortion, at-home abortion, self-managed abortion, & pill abortion) is the abortion of a preborn human, typically in the first trimester using powerful drugs called Mifepristone and Misoprostol. This type of abortion makes up more than half of all abortions in the U.S. and has killed 24 women and injured thousands more since its legalization in 2000.

The FDA removed the Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies (REMS) which allows the abortion industry to harm more women with reckless distribution and decreased safety standards.

The risks of chemical abortion must not be downplayed. This abortion can cause severe pain, heavy and/or prolonged bleeding, infection, incomplete abortion, undetected ectopic pregnancy (life-threatening), infertility, and even death.

Through offering these dangerous pills, UMass University Health Services has essentially transformed itself into an abortion facility - which is something NO college campus should have. We demand that action be taken to immediately remove these pills from UMass University Health Services.
