SB 180 Election Changes is another attempt by ‘progressive’ legislators to overhaul New Mexico’s election law in ways that jeopardize the integrity of our voting process.

After failing to pass their election overhaul bill in the 2022 session, progressive legislators are back with a similar bill in the 2023 session. SB 180 Election Changes is a 178-page bill that would substantially revise New Mexico’s election code in ways that will hurt election integrity.

Things like forcing counties to use internet-connected ‘poll books’ at voting locations. There is no provision in this bill detailing how secure these poll books (like an Ipad) would be, opening the door for potential hacking from outside sources.

SB180 also removes the safeguards around having a minor serve on an election board. In the event an election certification was challenged in court, not having those safeguards present if a minor was a signatory to the certification could be problematic.

We can beat the bill again this year, but we need every New Mexican who cares about fair and transparent elections to speak out against it. Use the form provided to ask legislators to support transparent, secure, and fair elections by telling them to VOTE NO on SB 180.
