Today the House of Representatives will be voting on Rep. Duffy's amendment #929 which increases the Mentoring Matching Grants Line Item!
Last week we received word that despite our request for $1.8 million for the Mentoring Matching Grant line item and Governor Healey level funding it at $1.5 million in her budget proposal, the House Ways and Means Committee decreased it to $1.2 million. Lower-level funding results in MMP funding fewer mentoring programs across the state and decreased grant sizes, which means that mentoring programs need you to voice your support.
Mass Mentoring Partnership continues to be committed to advocating on behalf of the mentoring field, but now we request that you reach out to your State Representatives and urge them to sign on to Rep. Duffy's Amendment #929 to the House budget, which would fund Mass Mentoring Partnership, Inc., competitive statewide grant program at the requested $1.8 million.
The House will be considering this amendment today, so please reach out to your State Representative ASAP. The more phone calls they receive, the more they will understand that their support of the amendment matters to young people in their communities.
