Chapter 70 Minimum Aid
Amendment #1314
This Amendment, filed by Rep. David Muradian, increases the FY2024 HWM Budget Chapter 70 Minimum Aid from $60 (2.3%) per student to $100 per student. If passed, the funding increase will positively impact the 119 remaining “minimum aid” districts in MA. The additional funding will preserve student access to existing school services.
Please note that the Governor’s FY2024 minimum aid increase was $30 (.7%) per student.
Special Education Reserve Account
Amendment #1359
This Amendment, filed by Rep. Steve Owens addresses the Operational Services Division (OSD) unprecedented decision to allow private special education schools to increase their tuition by a staggering 14% in FY24. Amendment #1359 creates a special reserve account that will offset these unanticipated and extraordinary special education costs. The reserve account will assist every school district in MA that sends students out of district to ensure individual educational needs are being met.
