Protect Community-Based Child Abuse Prevention (CBCAP) Appropriations
Join us today to urge your members of Congress to include robust funding in Fiscal Year 2024 (FY24) for the Community-Based Child Abuse Prevention (CBCAP) grants.
CBCAP funding results in significant and positive outcomes and safe, stable, and nurturing relationships and environments for all children, providing states and communities with the resources to implement prevention focused community-based solutions. Expanding CBCAP would be transformational for communities and families. The investment in primary prevention will ensure families get the support they need before they are in crisis, thereby preventing child welfare system involvement and the costly interventions needed at that point.
Though CBCAP represents the main federal investment in primary prevention programs, it minimally funds prevention services for children, resulting in a great deal of unmet need. In addition, the House recommeded a $1.5M cut to CBCAP grants, which would be detrimentalfor our Prevent Child Abuse state chapter network. CBCAP grants are instrumental in providing supports to ensure prevention in all states.
Contact your member of Congress today to urge them to continue to invest in their community and protect efforts to continue the prevention of child abuse and neglect.
