Biden Administration’s new Title IX rules - Petition
Dear Governor Lujan Grisham and New Mexico Legislators: It is time to stand up for girls’ rights by protecting their rights to privacy and athletics.
Under the Biden Administration’s new Title IX rules, girls’ rights are being thrown away because:
· girls will have to share bathrooms and locker rooms with biological males
· girls will be forced to compete against biological males in athletics
The new Title IX rules took effect on August 1st. Safety and fairness will be deeply compromised in New Mexico’s K-12 schools if these changes go into effect!
Girls deserve to have their own private bathrooms and locker rooms, with NO males being allowed to enter regardless of how they identify. Girls will also be put at a huge disadvantage if biologically-male transgender people are allowed to compete in girls' sports. In general, males are physiologically stronger and more powerful than females, regardless of their gender identification.
Girls and women had to fight for decades in order to achieve equal access to sports. Now that is all being thrown away when girls and women are forced to compete against athletes who are biologically male. It is unfair and discriminatory for women and girls to EVER have to compete against males.
Over half the states in the USA have already declared that they will not enforce the new Title IX rules. Several lawsuits have already found that these new rules are unjust and cannot be enforced. The latest Federal court injunction was released in July 2024. We call on you now to stand up for New Mexico’s girls by refusing to enforce the new Title IX rules.
