Inquiry into Discrimination and Bullying in Tasmanian Schools
It is alarming that Australian teenage students face the second highest level of bullying among 24 OECD countries and Tasmania has the highest levels in Australia.
Do you live in Tasmania?
Have you or your children experienced care and compassion at a Christian school?
Have your children enrolled in a Christian school because of bullying elsewhere?
We need you to share your story.
A New Inquiry Into Bullying
Independent MP Kristie Johnston has been successful in having a motion passed to establish a parliamentary inquiry into discrimination and bullying in Tasmanian Schools.
The Committee will investigate discrimination, bullying and harassment in Tasmanian schools, examine their impact on students and staff, and recommend measures to prevent and address these issues, including potential legislative and policy reforms.
We Need Your Help
At a time when opponents to Christian Schools want to assert that our schools are not safe places, it is vital that we share our stories about the care and compassion that is the foundation of our faith and that we seek to be at the heart of our schools.
We have created an online form that makes it quick and easy to write to the Committee. You can use the template provided, or (even better), adjust it to your own words and share your own story.
You can read the full Terms of Reference on the Inquiry website.
The Committee is required to report by 28 November 2024 and submissions are now open. Submissions must be provided by Friday 26 July 2024. Please use our form below to share your views with the Committee, or send them an email to assemblygaa@parliament.tas.gov.au.
The committee is particularly interested in hearing the stories of young people, so if your children are able to share their experiences that would be great.
