Murders and shooting victims are up. Where's the plan?
How you’re handling polling doesn’t make sense. More shooting victims so stop proactive stops. More shots fired into occupied homes so do more studies on how to reduce the number of officers. More homicides so let’s divert more money from the police department and into programs that have not made many parts of LA safer. Billions spent on housing the homeless and yet it is getting worse and not better.
1,000 fewer police officers will mean more shooting victims, more violence and more residents living in fear. Seventy percent% of all violent crime victims in LA are either Black or Hispanic. What is your plan to make LA safer? Shame on all of you for not coming up with a plan other than cutting the number of police officers trying to keep us safe.
Public safety must be a priority. We need a plan!
No public safety plan equals more shooting victims, more murder victims and more homes shot into. These are shootings and victims that had nothing to do with a police officer, so where is the outrage? Where is the plan to stop this violence?
You keep cutting the police department as if that is a realistic plan to address the violence. It is not. You should do your job. Billions have been invested to create jobs, build housing, create homeless programs and yet the results are abysmal. In too many of our neighborhoods it is unsafe to walk on the sidewalk or stand out front of your home without fear of being shot.
Where is your outrage? Why are you not speaking up? Where is your plan to keep LA safe?
No proactive policing means more victims
The City Council and Police Commission should focus on reducing the number of murders, shooting victims, and shots fired into occupied homes instead of blaming police officers for every ill in society. The violence and bloodshed that is terrorizing our residents, predominantly Black and Hispanic residents, is a travesty and no one on the City Council or the Police Commission is taking responsibility or doing anything about it.
How are you going to make it safer by cutting police officers and hamstringing their ability to do their jobs? It’s a clear message to victims that they don't matter. Where is your plan to keep LA safe?
Where is your plan to keep LA safe?
Cutting nearly a thousand police officers is not a plan to keep L.A. safe, it is a recipe for disaster, more victims, and more crime. Pulling police officers from neighborhoods that have predominantly Latino and Black residents is not fair as many of these neighborhoods are where shootings are occurring at an alarming rate.
CARES Act money can be used for public safety and avoid devastating cuts to the police department. Seventy percent of violent crime victims in L.A. are either Latino or Black. Why wouldn't the city use the CARES Act money to protect those impacted by violent crime? Where is your plan to keep us all safe?
