As my representative in D.C, I want you to vote “HECK NO” on H.R. 130, the mandatory gun lockup legislation being pushed by Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee. This legislation is all but certain to get innocent American killed, by forcing us to lock up our firearms around the clock, giving armed home invaders the upper hand. Gun owners are the single most responsible group of citizens there are in America. But this legislation treats us as irresponsible serfs, who can’t be trusted with the ability to defend ourselves. This bill wouldn’t stop a single criminal. As my elected voice in Congress, I am writing to insist that you oppose this dangerous, insulting, and unconstitutional legislation at every opportunity, whether in committee or on the floor. H.R. 130 attempts to force me to comply with government requirements for how I store my guns. If I comply, it would mean being unable to defend myself from violent home invaders as I would have to unlock my gun safe, find my ammo, load my firearm (usually at night, under extreme stress) before an armed criminal gets to my family. If I don’t comply, I would be facing criminal charges? This is blatantly unconstitutional and flies in the face of recent Supreme Court rulings on this subject. That’s why, as my elected voice in Congress, I want to be sure you knew that I want you to fight against H.R. 130 with everything you have! As a law abiding gun owner, I don't need to be told how to store my firearms and I certainly don't need to be threatened by my own government for having a firearm available for self-defense! But that’s exactly what H.R. 130 would do. This legislation is a total attempt at government overreach. But this is America. We don't need or appreciate a nanny state, and as my voice in Congress, I want you to do everything in your power to FIGHT against this terrible legislation. Everybody knows, when seconds count and our guns are under government ordered lock and key, it can cost you your life. Oppose H.R. 130 in every step of the process. Speak publicly against it. In 2021, my gun rights will be under attack like never before. As my voice in Congress, I am writing to make sure you know that I want you to fight against these attacks on my guns rights every single day! H.R. 130 is an example of these attacks; an absurd, unconstitutional, and unenforceable bill that would force me to lock up my firearms virtually 24 hours a day -- giving violent home invaders the upper hand. The very idea that politicians think they can tell the People how we have to store their own firearms in our own home shows me that government has grown way out of its bounds.
