Support Indiana's Fuel Choice
I'm emailing you today to ask that you support House Bill (HB) 1191, legislation that would preserve our ability to heat and cook with natural gas. As a member of the gas fireplace industry, I work with natural gas and propane products every day.
HB 1191 ensures Hoosiers continue to be able to afford their heating bills, and many use natural gas, which is a clean source of energy. Gas fireplaces are a reliable source of secondary heat and can be crucial for families if/when they lose electricity during a storm and need a backup source of heat.
Communities across the country are proposing outright bans on gas appliances in new buildings and construction. Banning natural gas would not only negatively impact local businesses, customers, and communities, it also threatens to take away the right of Hoosiers to choose the type of appliances for their homes and businesses. This bill would prevent that from happening in our state.

Support Indiana House Bill 1191
I am contacting you today about House Bill (HB) 1191 that preserves our ability to use natural gas to heat our homes. Our industry understands the value of affordability that natural gas provides as a clean energy source.
Not only does natural gas play a critical role in helping reduce emissions, but it also offers the country a path to energy independence while strengthening the economy and increasing jobs nationwide. As a job provider in my community, without this bill, we would not be able to offer the majority of our products, severely hindering our ability to stay in business and keep our employees.

Preserve Fuel Choice in Indiana
I am contacting you to ask that you support House Bill (HB) 1191. This bill would protect our ability to affordably heat and cook our homes with natural gas. As a member of the gas fireplace industry, I work with natural gas and propane products every day.
Homes using natural gas for heating, cooking and drying clothes saved an average of $874 per year compared to those using other energy sources. Without this legislation, I will be unable to continue providing a home heating source and thus severely hindering my business.
Indiana is not the only state tackling this issue. Oklahoma, Arizona, Louisiana and Tennessee have passed similar laws leaving energy policy decisions at the state level. Many states are moving bills through the process right now.
