Support Constitutional Carry – HB 0018
As one of your constituents and a supporter of Gun Owners of America, I urge you to support HB 0018.
Under House Bill 0018, law-abiding citizens of Tennessee will be able to conceal carry without having to beg the government for a permit, as long as they are legally in possession of the firearm. This is particularly important at a time when government closures around the country are dragging out that process -- thereby endangering the lives of applicants in threatening situations. This bill is also better than HB 786, because it doesn’t require someone to obtain training to meet the requirements for the Enhanced Handgun Carry Permit.
Eighteen other states currently recognize that Americans have the right to carry a gun for self-defense without first jumping through additional hoops or getting the government's permission to exercise their constitutional rights. These states, not coincidentally, are among the safest in the country.
It's well past time that Tennessee joined these states and repealed the unreasonable and unconstitutional limits on its citizens’ exercise of their Second Amendment rights.
Please support HB 18 instead of HB 786.
