I appreciate that you have expressed that you do not support vaccine passports in Georgia. Please follow in the footsteps of Ron DeSantis and issue an executive order banning vaccine passports in the state of Georgia. Vaccine passports are unethical, unconstitutional and unnecessary. Vaccine passports are unethical because no medical intervention should be coerced, particularly when there are risks associated with the vaccine (both known and unknown, in this case). Our government vaccine adverse event reporting system (VAERS) includes 41 reported deaths in Georgia and over 2,000 in the United States. Reported vaccine injuries must be taken seriously and there must be informed consent. To withhold goods, services or travel for not participating in a medical procedure is a violation of human rights. It is also unconstitutional as it violates rights to privacy as well as First Amendment rights to religious freedom. In addition, a vaccine passport will create a two-tiered society that will lead to discrimination based on vaccine-status. It is unnecessary to prove vaccination status because the vaccines currently available are not guaranteed to prevent viral infection or transmission. It is also unnecessary because many Americans are not at risk from severe outcomes from SARS-Cov-2. A vaccine passport system would also imply that unvaccinated individuals are infectious, which is not true. And finally, if the vaccine works as intended, then the vaccination status of others should be irrelevant. Please protect Georgians from vaccine passports and issue an executive order banning their establishment and use in the state of Georgia.
