I am writing to urge you as a member of Congress to do something that can give justice to thousands of Marines, civilians and families who drank poisoned drinking water at Camp Lejeune, N.C. Please become a strong supporter and co-sponsor of the Camp Lejeune Justice Act (H.R. 6482/S. 3176) today. Join the bipartisan effort of more than 150 Members of Congress and Senators to alleviate the pain and suffering of heroes who have served our nation. Background Up to a million Marines, their families and civilian employees at Camp Lejeune, N.C. were exposed for over 35 years to cancer-causing volatile chemicals, such as jet fuel, cleaning solvents and degreasers, that leached into the base water supply. Thousands of veterans, civilians and family members have suffered decades of horrendous health effects and diseases, debilitating deformities and death due to this water contamination at Camp Lejeune. What you can do? Only Congress can correct this injustice to Marines, their families and civilians who worked at Camp Lejeune. The Camp Lejeune Justice Act is a bill that, if passed, would allow service members, families and civilian workers at Camp Lejeune who consumed or bathed in the base’s water for at least 30 days between 1953 and 1987 to file a claim for damage. Please help our Marines get the justice they deserve and have the ability to have their day in court on what happened to them at Camp Lejeune. Thank you.
