Do Not Segregate Californians
Segregation has no place in the state of California. Period. I am writing to ask you to oppose AB455 and AB1102 swiftly and without considering any amendments as there is no amendment that justifies the separation of the citizens of the United States.
California led the way in protecting the rights of those with HIV, an active communicable disease. Now, we are throwing that history away and encouraging segregation based on medical status. This is a disposable bill that has no place in what has been known as a progressive California.
My Body, My Choice- Protect Bodily Autonomy
On behalf of concerned Californians, I beg that you please consider the value of people’s right to choose what to do with their bodies. This is a pivotal moment in time where we stand for the people, expressing that bodily autonomy is a top priority here in California. We have remained a state which has led the way in continually chanting the infamous, “my body, my choice”, however a vaccine mandate this invasive would completely crush this notion.
Please also consider the immune-compromised and the medically fragile community which has grown exponentially in recent years. They are already struggling to keep up with a society they are not welcomed in. This would deeply contribute, possibly be the final breaking point- to their already suffocating barrier, making their world completely unlivable.
Please consider those most in need of our help at this time.
Request for Public Comment
I am writing to you to request that you publicly condemn the actions of the CA state legislature and issue an official statement. It's continued abuse of power and determination to rob the people of their right to public hearings is unacceptable. The continual use of gut and amend bills to avoid the public from participating in the legislative process is a clear sign of unchecked power and a flagrant disregard this legislature has for the public's voice.
Oppose AB 455 and AB1102 - Protect Equal Rights
AB 455 and AB1102 are a gross overreach of the legislative system. Not only is the segregation of our society based on medical status harkening back to some of the darkest times our country has seen, but these bills have been set forth as gut and amend which cuts the people of California out of the process. Our constitution demands citizens have a say. Our constitution demands equal rights.
These bills bar access to work and life which we have never asked of people based on medical status. What is next, will those who test positively for HIV be isolated from society and not allowed to work because they have an active communicable disease?
I am asking you to oppose these segregationist pieces of legislation.
