Thank you for preserving the filibuster
As your constituent, I want to thank you for voting to preserve the filibuster despite intense pressure from the White House to eliminate it in order to pass a federal overhaul of our elections.
I agree with Gun Owners of America that the filibuster exists to prevent the Senate from imposing drastic changes upon the American people without an overwhelming popular mandate. It also provides an additional check on the Senate from passing unconstitutional gun control laws.
At a time when our country is so politically divided, the last thing the Senate should be doing is allowing a simple majority to impose transformative changes upon America.
And there’s no question that the deceptively named “Freedom to Vote Act” – which should be renamed the “Freedom to Commit Voter Fraud Act” – would have fundamentally transformed our nation.
State-passed voter ID laws would be eliminated, inviting an unprecedented amount of voter fraud into our elections.
At a time when politicians are demanding citizens present an ID and vaccine passport to be able to eat at a restaurant in our nation’s capital, it seems reasonable to ask voters to show an ID when electing the next leader of the free world.
I assure you that I am not alone in my opinions.
Polls show that as many as ***81%*** of voters approve of voter ID laws to ensure that our elections are free and fair.
I urge you to continue to uphold the legislative filibuster and stand strong against any attempts at a federal overhaul of our elections.

I am furious you voted to eliminate the filibuster
As your constituent, I was outraged to learn that you voted to eliminate the filibuster in an attempt to pass the deceptively named “Freedom to Vote Act.”
Luckily, your plans to radically transform America by a simple majority failed.
The legislation you attempted to ram through the Senate would have, indeed, fundamentally transformed our country.
The “Freedom to Vote Act” should be renamed the “Freedom to Commit Voter Fraud Act.”
State-passed voter ID laws would be eliminated, inviting an unprecedented amount of voter fraud into our elections.

Regarding the filibuster, don’t forget what top-level Democrats used to say in favor of keeping it. In 2017, Senator Chuck Schumer said that, “Without the 60-vote threshold for legislation the Senate becomes a majoritarian institution like the House -- much more subject to the whims of electoral change.”
And as a U.S. Senator, Joe Biden said in 2005 that the Senate (and the use of the filibuster) was intended by the Founders to serve as a “cooling saucer.”
As your constituent, I implore you to uphold the legislative filibuster and to vote NO on any attempts at a federal overhaul of our elections.
