Vote No on AB 2840
I respectfully ask that you vote No AB 2840 because it will stall the on-going recovery of California’s economy. This bill would effectively ban most industrial developments in Southern California and kill high wage jobs in areas where they are needed most and ultimately harm local economies.
Supply chain hubs and logistics centers bring much needed support to our communities as these projects create good paying jobs which provide economic mobility to many underserved communities. AB 2840 will disrupt the state’s already stretched supply chain, making it harder to get products and materials to retailers, construction sites and manufacturing facilities. This will only create more price increases for items such as food and clothing which many Californians cannot afford. Moreover, AB 2840 will eliminate thousands of middle-class jobs associated with building logistics centers.
Stopping logistics projects will produce more sprawl, worsen tailpipe emissions and require more vehicle miles traveled. The South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) recently adopted the Indirect Source Rule (ISR) which directly targets the air quality concerns that AB 2840 seeks to address.
Please vote No on AB 2840.
