Chula Vista Tenants Need a no-fault Eviction Moratorium Now!
Please vote in favor of passing a no fault eviction ban in Chula Vista! We need strong no-fault eviction protections and anti-harassment ordinance for Chula Vista tenants. Chula Vista residents need protection from no-fault evictions because landlords are abusing loopholes in state law to needlessly throw families out of their homes with COVID cases still rising in San Diego County.
Landlords are abusing the law to intimidate and evict tenants, even if they have paid rent on time and have satisfied the terms of their lease. Landlords are using loopholes in the law to evict tenants and then re-rent the units at double and triple the previous rent. Legal resources are limited, keeping many lawyers from being able to take cases. Passing at least a no-fault moratorium would relieve this burden.
Chula Vista tenants need and deserve strong just cause protections, including a no-fault eviction ban like the city of San Diego already has passed to protect their renters. I urge you to please stand with tenants and help them stay in their homes.
