I am writing to demand you enforce penalties against Pama V Properties, owner of the Chesapeake Apartment complex in the Baldwin Hills/Crenshaw area. For years, Pama Properties and its president Mike Nijjar, have been endangering the health and safety of residents at the Chesapeake Apartments by refusing to adequately address issues of toxic black mold, vermin, carbon monoxide leaks, raw sewage and other problems. Recently released inspection reports from the city Housing Department and the county Health Department have revealed more than 2,000 violations, including structural deficiencies and lead exposure. These results prove the mismanagement and neglect by Pama Properties and that tenants’ complaints were valid. Tenants who have spoken out against Pama have received threats of eviction and physical retaliation. The Chesapeake tenants deserve to live in a healthy and safe environment. They deserve justice for the years of mistreatment by Pama and Mr. Nijjar who have cared nothing about their well-being. Please hold Pama and Mr. Nijjar accountable for their behavior. Thank you.
