Oppose the Taiwan Policy Act!
As your constituent, I urge you to please speak out publicly to oppose S.4428 (Taiwan Policy Act of 2022), which would dismantle the One China policy and escalate a war in Taiwan.
I am deeply concerned for the people of Taiwan, but only diplomacy, not military expansion, can solve the problem. S.4428 cannot deter but instead escalate a war in Taiwan. Please reaffirm in a social media post or constituent email your dedication for peace and opposition to S.4428 and any act that may provoke China and lead to war.
In 1972, the United States and China signed the Shanghai Communique, affirming that “there is but one China and that Taiwan is a part of China.” This joint diplomatic agreement established the One China policy, which has been the foundation of a normalized US-China relationship for the past 50 years. Diplomacy requires both countries to sit down and negotiate. A bill in the US Congress cannot unilaterally change the agreement between two countries, and China has already expressed they would perceive S.4428 as an act of war.
Learn from Ukraine, and do not allow yourself to be used as a tool for war. Use your congressional platform to advocate for peace and opposition to S.4428. Let’s stop the war baiting and start the peace-making with China. Save the planet and the people!
