Don't Jack the Car Tab Tax
I am writing to oppose your proposed increase to the annual car tab registration fee. With a $17.6 billion budget surplus, it’s hard to understand why anyone would propose new taxes on Minnesotans like me.
Gasoline prices are still higher than they were before the pandemic and inflation is making everything we purchase more expensive. Increasing the cost of driving will add to the financial hardships of families like mine.
You often speak of taxing the rich but raising tab fees hits all Minnesotans, not just the rich.
Please use some of the historic budget surplus to fund transportation projects instead of raising taxes on everyone who drives a car.
