Oppose H.R. 571, H.R. 563, S. 105, & H.R. 609 -- Instead, Get the Feds Completely Out of Education
I urge you to oppose H.R. 571, H.R. 563, S. 105, H.R. 609, and any other bill promoting school vouchers and "Education Savings Accounts" (ESAs). These might sound like good ideas, but they're actually a slippery slope toward government regulation of home and private schools.
If government can fund private and home schools, the government can also tell them how and what to teach, and enact other draconian restrictions. This may not happen now, but ESAs and vouchers are a slippery slope toward that happening -- and if parents and religious schools are dependent on federal funding, they'll have little choice but to acquiesce.
Also, the U.S. Constitution doesn’t give the federal government any role in education, and the 10th Amendment affirms that education policy lies with the states and the people. Congress should get the federal government completely out of education, not expand its involvement.
Federal "Incentives" Threaten Private and Home Schools
Please oppose H.R. 571, H.R. 563, S. 105, H.R. 609, and every other proposal to establish or expand ESA and voucher programs. Contrary to what many people think, these programs threaten the independence of private schools and home schools.
Other countries -- including Sweden, Australia, and Canada -- have enacted similar programs, and with devastating effects. Private schools are heavily regulated and have no independence in what they teach. Many of them (even Christian schools) are forced to teach far-left dogma, including LGBT propaganda.
In our country, ESA/voucher programs may not have similar strings attached -- right now -- but it could easily happen later on. The current proposals and programs are a slippery slope toward government control.
Under the U.S. Constitution, the federal government has no rightful role in education. These bills are a mistake, as they actually increase federal involvement in education. Please oppose H.R. 571, H.R. 563, S. 105, and H.R. 609.
Don't Trap Private & Home Schools With Federal Funding
I strongly request that you oppose H.R. 571, H.R. 563, S. 105, H.R. 609, and any other bill that would implement and expand "Education Savings Accounts" (ESAs). Contrary to the narrative that these bills protect school choice, they actually will make private and home schools totally dependent on government support -- thus trapping and forcing them to accept tyrannical government edicts.
This shouldn't be surprising -- the United Nations (specifically UNESCO) explicitly supports government subsidization of private schools in order to gain control over them and their curriculum.
And in Sweden, Australia, and other countries, religious schools are now forced to teach things that contradict their religious teachings -- because they're dependent on government funding.
ESAs and vouchers open the door to government control over non-public education. In reality, the federal government shouldn't have any role in education whatsoever. Please oppose H.R. 571, H.R. 563, S. 105, and H.R. 609.
Oppose H.R. 571, H.R. 563, S. 105, and H.R. 609 -- Slippery Slope to Federal Control
I implore you to oppose and vote against H.R. 571, H.R. 563, S. 105, H.R. 609. Although these bills are touted as promoting "school choice," they will do the opposite -- they actually will increase federal control over education.
Vouchers and ESA programs are closely connected to the United Nations and its push to indoctrinate children with international-socialist ideology. For example, UNESCO has advocated subsidizing private schools with tax money in order to control them (i.e., impose the same leftist standards on them as public schools).
Also, if government gives parents and religious schools money, it creates dependence. Then, government can attach strings to its funding, and the parents and religious schools will have no choice but to acquiesce.
Look at Sweden, Canada, and other countries, where the private schools now teach leftist dogma, because they're totally dependent on government funding. If we are to avoid this from happening here, we must keep private and home schools independent.
Thus, please oppose and vote against H.R. 571, H.R. 563, S. 105, and H.R. 609. Instead, get the federal government completely out of education.
Reject Federal Funding of Private, Home Schools: Backdoor to Govt. Control
I urge you to oppose and reject H.R. 571, H.R. 563, S. 105, and H.R. 609. These bills might sound good, but they're a major -- and potentially disastrous -- intrusion of the federal government into private and home education.
By funding parents and private/religious schools, ESAs and vouchers promote dependence on government subsidies. And when this happens, government can force them to adopt "woke" curriculum and other draconian policies -- this has already happened in other countries with similar programs (Canada, Sweden, etc.).
Instead of trapping parents and private schools, Congress must get the federal government completely out of education. Our existing level of involvement is blatantly unconstitutional. Accordingly, please oppose H.R. 571, H.R. 563, S. 105, and H.R. 609, and any other bills that expands government involvement in education.
