Support SB 137 to Ban Ranked-choice Voting
I urge you to support SB 137, which would prohibit ranked-choice voting (RCV) in our state.
RCV is confusing, distracts from policy issues, and forces voters to vote for candidates they otherwise would not support. It can also lead to candidates with little genuine support winning.
Furthermore, with any voting system, the more complicated it is, the greater the risk of manipulation strategies or fraud. It will also encourage computerized voting, when we should instead support hand-counted paper ballots.
Please support SB 137, and prohibit ranked-choice voting.
Enact SB 137; Ranked Choice Voting Is a Bad Idea
Please support and immediately enact SB 137. Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) is a bad idea and a step backward from the traditional election system.
RCV is so complex that it will encourage computerized voting. This is harmful to election integrity, as hand-counted paper ballots are the most reliable and secure.
Furthermore, because of how RCV operates, voters will no longer vote for candidates based on policy issues. Rather, they will rank each candidate, even those they oppose, or those they are ambivalent over. Thus, candidates who (or whose views) don't have strong support could win.
Please support SB 137 to prevent the use of RCV. The downsides of RCV are much greater than any possible benefits.
Vote YES on SB 137 (Ban RCV)
Please vote in favor of SB 137 to ban the use of ranked-choice voting (RCV) in elections in Ohio.
We should be choosing single candidates based on their policy views, not ranking candidates (in effect, voting even for those we oppose). Ranked-choice voting will make it harder to focus on policy issues, and select the best candidates.
Also, ranked-choice voting is so complex, that it will discourage the use of hand-counted paper ballots. This is harmful to election integrity. And more broadly, RCV's complexity will make it easier to commit fraud.
Thus, please support and vote in favor of SB 137.
Support SB 137 to End Ranked Choice Voting (RCV)
I strongly request that you support and pass SB 137 to stop Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) in our state.
RCV undermines election integrity because it is excessively complex. Any electoral system that is extremely complicated is also easier to manipulate. Similarly, RCV will undermine the use of hand-counted paper ballots -- this is harmful because hand-counted paper ballots is the most secure form of ballot-counting.
Also, when voting, we should vote for the best candidate. Not rank candidates, many of whom we oppose, or who are obscure. Thus, RCV is a step backward.
Please support and pass SB 137, and take action to end any ranked-choice voting.
Support SB 137 -- Ranked-choice Voting is Dangerous
I implore you to support SB 137 in order to ban ranked-choice voting in Ohio.
Despite its increasing adoption, ranked-choice voting has dangerous consequences to our electoral process. It is confusing, overly complicated, and obfuscates from the important policy issues at play.
In past elections using ranked-choice voting, we have seen candidates with little actual support win -- simply because of the voting system.
Ranked-choice voting is dangerous -- and because of this, please support and enact SB 137.
