Nor should they have power to strike out a religious body’s policies that staff conform to the group’s beliefs. Recommendations 113-115, if fully enacted, would stifle debate about religious convictions, gender identities and sexuality, at a time when children and adults are speaking out about irreversible harm from hormonal and surgical interventions. WA Courts and Tribunals must not interfere with the rights of families and religious bodies, to choose for children to be led by staff that model, practise and believe the parents’ values.
