Stripping individuals of this right would make them utterly dependent upon the government for their very lives and allow it to strip them of other rights without fear of reprisal. In such a country, they do not live at the total mercy of their government, or of thugs and criminals. Without the right to self-defense, forces that oppose freedom -- whether it be the government or criminal organizations -- can terrorize the populace without any worries on their part. It's important that we protect this right in our country. If passed, H.4139 would effectively eliminate our Second Amendment protections. Please stop H.4139.
