As such, it is unacceptable that law-abiding citizens, like myself, are forced to ask permission from the government to exercise their Second Amendment right to defend themselves, their families, and their communities. Under SB 1, an 18-year-old law-abiding person will be able to conceal carry a weapon without having to first ask the government for a permit, further restoring the constitutionally protected rights of the people to keep and bear arms. As such, I ask that you please vote in favor of SB 1 in its current form and without amendment. Additionally, I ask that you support the limitation of liability bill SB 2. Under SB 2, individuals who lawfully own, possess, use, or carry a concealed handgun under Louisiana’s concealed handgun permit statute would be protected from civil liability.
