Regarding the HRC Ceasefire Resolution
I am writing to express my profound disappointment regarding the Waterbury Human Rights Commission's Israel - Hamas ceasefire resolution.
The resolution is deeply troubling. It attempts to create a moral equivalency between Israel the victim and Hamas the perpetrator of the violence of October 7th and a proud terror organization.
Also, it does not call for the unconditional immediate release of the hostages held by Hamas – including men, women and children, among them senior citizens and a one-year-old baby. Furthermore, it does not demand the immediate surrender of Hamas leaders.
We urge you not to pass this resolution.
Please keep the government of our great city focused on running the city, so it can continue to be the safe and inclusive community we are proud to raise our families in.
