As a citizen of Louisiana and a supporter of Gun Owners of America, I am writing today to thank you for supporting Constitutional Carry Bill SB 1 and to let you know that I, along with all law-abiding Louisianians, stand with you in support of our right to keep and bear arms. The right to keep and bear arms is a God-given, fundamental right enumerated in both the United States Constitution and the Louisiana Constitution. As such, it is unacceptable that law-abiding citizens, like myself, have been forced to ask permission from the Louisiana government to exercise their Second Amendment right to defend themselves, their families, and their communities. SB 1 begins the process of changing this reality by restoring the right of an 18-year-old law-abiding person to conceal carry a handgun without first asking the government for a permit. I am hopeful that the signing of SB 1 into law is the first step of many by your administration to fully restore the constitutionally protected rights of the people to keep and bear arms.
