Not only will HB 5577 allow gold and silver to be treated as money -- as they ought -- but it will help reduce our state's financial independence on the federal government, specifically the Federal Reserve. This bill also will help our state avoid the federal government's planned "Central Bank Digital Currencies," which severely threaten privacy and individual freedom. This bill also would protect us from the federal government's plans for a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), which will even further erode our privacy. Specifically, I refer to Article I, Section 8, Clause 5 and Article I, Section 10, Clause 1. Fiat money is not recognized. This is for good reason.
