Inappropriate Sex Ed Must Be Banned
I was dismayed last week to learn that deviant and illegal sexual behaviours were taught as types of ‘sexual preferences’ at a high school in the Riverland and am writing to ask you to support Sarah Game’s Education and Children’s Services (Parental Primacy) Amendment Bill 2024.
The incident reported by the Advertiser above highlights the risks involved in permitting third parties who openly advocate for ideology-based sex education to conduct sex education in schools. Parents hold primary responsibility for instruction on such controversial topics, and our children deserve an education that respects their dignity and values. It is clear the sex education programs delivered by organisations like HeadSpace are going beyond sensible discussions surrounding consent and respect and cannot be trusted.
I implore you to support Sarah Game’s Bill and to take decisive measures to prevent the exposure of South Australian students to such materials in the future.
Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. I trust that you will take the necessary steps to address these concerns and uphold the rights of parents in our education system.
Prioritising Essential Educational Outcomes
I am writing to express my concern about the state of South Australia’s education system in light of poor performance indicators and to express my support for Sarah Game’s Education and Children’s Services (Parental Primacy) Amendment Bill 2024.
Last year’s OECD results show that Australian 15-year-olds are underperforming in mathematics, reading, and science. Whereas Australia used to be a top-performing country, Australia now sits four years behind Singapore in maths, and two years behind in both reading and science.
The decision to include controversial topics like LGBTQIA+ ideology in sex education has distracted schools from the essential ‘basics’ and has led to disturbing instances such as the one reported in the Riverland School last week where objectionable and illegal sexual behaviours were discussed. Not only does ideology-based sex education undermine the authority of parents in guiding their children's moral development, but it also risks exposing students to harmful content that has no place in a school setting.
I urge you to reevaluate the priorities of our education system and ensure that resources are allocated towards programs that truly benefit our students. Rather than introducing divisive and inappropriate material into the classroom, let us focus on equipping our children with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in an increasingly complex world.
Sarah Game’s amendment to the Education and Children’s Services Act is a timely and appropriate measure to help improve parental rights regarding education and allow our school system to return to the essential basics.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Listen to Parents’ Voice on Sex Education
I am writing to express my concern regarding recent reports of perverted and unnatural sexual relations - including with animals and blood relations - being taught at a high school in South Australia as part of the Respectful Relationships program and delivered by HeadSpace, a taxpayer funded organisation. I am deeply troubled that such inappropriate and harmful content was included in a curriculum aimed at promoting healthy relationships.
While I understand the importance of educating young people about respect and consent, the abovenamed topics have no place in a school setting. Not only are these subjects morally objectionable, but they also have the potential to cause psychological harm to impressionable students.
I am furthermore dismayed to learn that parental consent was not sought before delivering this content to students. While normal protocols would prevent this from happening, it is clear that when third parties assume responsibility for sex education, there is a decrease in transparency and accountability regarding the content children are exposed to.
I urge you to take immediate action to ensure that such inappropriate content is removed from school curricula and that parents are given a voice in determining the educational materials presented to their children by supporting Sarah Game’s Education and Children’s Services (Parental Primacy) Amendment Bill 2024.
Our focus should be on promoting basic educational outcomes like literacy, numeracy, and maths, rather than introducing controversial and divisive topics into the classroom.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing your response and your efforts to address these concerns.
Protect our kids from abhorrent 'sex education' indoctrination
The National Curriculum’s focus on identity politics and critical theory is failing to equip Australia’s next generation of leaders with the basic essential skills they need to thrive. In particular, the introduction of LGBTQI+ ideology in South Australian schools is undermining parents’ role when it comes to moral development and diverting students from core academic learning.
Last week’s shocking incident at a local Renmark school, where illegal sex practices were taught under the Respectful Relationships Program, is an example of the risk we are exposing our children to when we allow ideological sex education in schools. Such incidents are unacceptable and demonstrate the need for Sarah Game’s Education and Children’s Services (Parental Primacy) Amendment Bill 2024.
Sarah Game’s Bill presents an important opportunity for us, as South Australians, to re-evaluate our priorities in education and to ensure parents can trust what their children are being taught at school.
Please support this Bill. Furthermore, I urge you to consider what measures can be taken to promote basic educational outcomes in maths, literacy and numeracy in South Australian schools – instead of controversial ideology-based education – to ensure we are giving students the best start possible.
