As a Maryland resident and supporter of Gun Owners of America, I ask that you Veto the Gun Industry Accountability Act of 2024, which unfairly targets Maryland’s gun industry and subsequently, Maryland’s gun owners. As citizens in a Republic, it is understood that we, as people, are responsible for our own actions. The thought of treating anyone, including gun manufacturers, as responsible for the actions of others is immoral and unjust. Is it just for the state to bring action against vehicle manufacturers and car dealerships for someone they sold a car to doing a hit-and-run or running a red light and causing an accident? This line of thought is entirely different to upholding safety standards for manufactures that produce faulty or malfunctioning products. As a gun owner, I ask that you VETO this bill that would open our state to frivolous lawsuits and make it harder for me to express my God given Second Amendment rights.
