Our country was founded under the principle of a limited government that guarantees -- rather than decimate -- our liberties. A digital currency could undo that principle by giving the federal government vast powers over our lives. There would be no checks on the government's ability to control what transactions are allowed and disallowed with a digital currency. If the government doesn't like what we're spending our money on, it could prevent such transactions or even shut down our accounts. This is frightening. We saw Big Tech companies shut down their digital payment systems in Russia. This could be replicated in the U.S. under a digital currency. Please reject any digital currency, and support H.R. 1122, H.R. 5403, and S. 3801.
