Protect veterans’ 2A rights
As your constituent, I urge you to support Section 261 of H.R. 8580 and vote for Rep. Crane’s Amdt. No. 31, both of which contain language that would continue preventing the Department of Veteran Affairs from disarming our nation’s veterans simply because they have a fiduciary appointed to them.
No veteran should be deprived of their Second Amendment rights because they need to utilize their earned benefits and have a fiduciary help them manage their finances.
Moreover, there are more than 250,000 veterans who are already prohibited from exercising their Second Amendment rights based on their prior appointment of a fiduciary. You must help Rep. Eli Crane in his fight to remove the names of veterans who were already determined “prohibited persons” from the FBI’s system.
So, along with supporting Section 261 of H.R. 8580 and Rep. Crane Amdt. No. 31, I urge you to fight to make these protections permanent and to restore the rights of veterans who have already been disarmed. Every veteran deserves to freely exercise the Second Amendment.
