As your constituent, I am very concerned that Congress could postpone funding the government until the lame duck session. If this Congress can’t get the job done by the September 30 deadline to avert a shutdown, then it should be up to the next Congress voted in by the American people. And on that note, America’s elections should ONLY be decided by American citizens. Period. That’s why I also urge you to enact the SAVE Act to protect the American people’s right to vote by requiring proof of citizenship before voting in a federal election. Members of the House are already fighting to attach the SAVE Act to a Continuing Resolution that avoids letting unelected politicians make critical decisions about how to fund the government. I urge you to VOTE NO on any attempt to kick the can on a government spending bill to the lame duck session and to ENACT the SAVE Act to ensure our elections are free and fair.
