Reauthorize OAA funding immediately!
OAA provides funding for a broad range of programs and services that enable older adults to enjoy healthy, productive, and independent lives in their homes and communities. Many of the services and programs funded by the OAA are for adults over 65, but there are also programs such as The National Family Caregiver Support Program, and the Alzheimer’s Disease Programs Initiative (ADPI) that serve adult family members or other informal caregivers aged 18 and older providing care to individuals of any age with Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders.
Current funding for OAA programs and services expires in FY24 and must be reauthorized by the current Congress. The House Appropriations Committee's FY25 funding bill, released this summer, included significant cuts to several OAA funded programs such as the CDC’s falls prevention programs and level funding for the National Family Caregiver Support Program (NFCSP). In contrast Senate funding proposals would increase NFCSP funding and maintain or increase funding levels for most other programs.
Continued funding for OAA programs is critical to help safeguard the health and well-being of millions of older Americans. Funding for programs such as the The National Family Caregiver Support Program, and the Alzheimer’s Disease Programs Initiative have direct benefits for individuals and families living with FTD and must not be cut.
Reauthorize funding for OAA Programs and Services at or above FY24 levels!!
Renew funding for the Older Americans Act (OAA) immediately!
The Older Americans Act (OAA) plays a crucial role in supporting a wide range of vital programs and services that empower older adults to lead fulfilling, healthy, and independent lives within their communities. While many OAA-funded initiatives cater to individuals aged 65 and above, key programs like The National Family Caregiver Support Program and the Alzheimer’s Disease Programs Initiative extend their assistance to adult family members and informal caregivers, aged 18 and older, who provide care for individuals of any age affected by Alzheimer's disease and related conditions including FTD.
As the funding for OAA programs and services is set to expire in FY24, it is imperative for the current Congress to pass S. 4776 before the end of this session and make a positive difference in the lives of those who rely on these vital programs.
Renew funding for the Older Americans Act (OAA) now!
