Please Save Arts Investment In Maryland
I am writing as your constituent and a strong supporter of Maryland’s vibrant arts sector to urge you to REJECT the proposed elimination of the Maryland State Arts Council funding formula known as the 1994 Arts Stabilization Act (ASA) in Governor Moore’s 2025 BRFA (p.68, lines 6-28).
For 30 years, the ASA has ensured stable, equitable funding for the Maryland State Arts Council, making Maryland a national leader in arts investment. Eliminating this critical legislation would jeopardize decades of bipartisan progress and destabilize an arts sector that contributes nearly $13 billion annually to our state economy and supports over 80,000 jobs.
I urge you to stand with Maryland’s arts community and reject the BRFA proposal to eliminate the Arts Stabilization Act. Protect the legislation that ensures the vibrancy, stability, and growth of Maryland’s arts sector.
Thank you for your attention to this critical issue. I appreciate your support.
Save the Future of the Arts!
I am reaching out to you as a dedicated supporter of our state's thriving arts community to implore you to oppose the potential elimination of the funding formula established by the 1994 Arts Stabilization Act (ASA) within Governor Moore’s 2025 BRFA (p.68, lines 6-28). Over the past three decades, the ASA has played a pivotal role in securing consistent and fair funding for the arts in our state, propelling Maryland to the forefront of arts investment nationwide. Disregarding this essential legislation would put at risk the bipartisan advancements made over the years, potentially destabilizing an arts sector that contributes a substantial $13 billion annually to our economy and sustains over 80,000 jobs.
For 30 years, the ASA has been instrumental in ensuring arts accessibility across all counties and Baltimore City, especially in communities that have historically received inadequate support. By eradicating this legislation, we run the risk of undoing the progress achieved and diminishing the profound impact that the arts have had on our economy and communities.
I urge you to stand in solidarity with Maryland’s arts advocates and resist the proposed removal of the Arts Stabilization Act in the BRFA. Let us preserve the legislative framework that safeguards the vitality, consistency, and expansion of our state's arts domain.
Thank you for your consideration of this crucial matter. Your support is immensely valued and appreciated.
