Protect the Second Amendment on March 26th!
As a Mainer and a supporter of Gun Owners of America, I am asking that you SUPPORT the pro-gun bills being heard in the Judiciary Committee on March 26th.
Although Maine has been a Constitutional carry state since 2015, the right to carry a firearm without a permit is still restricted to individuals aged 21 and older. This right is also limited in certain areas, such as state parks, where the state's “optional” carry permit is still required.
Ending these infringements by passing LD 424 (HP 278), which lowers the constitutional carry age to 18, and LD 829 (SP 356) – which removes the requirement that a person have a valid permit in order to carry a concealed handgun in state parks, Baxter State Park, the Allagash Wilderness Waterway and Acadia National Park – is a much-needed step in defending the Second Amendment.
I'm also asking that you support LD 998, (HP 645) – which prevents employers from prohibiting employees from storing firearms in their locked vehicles, and LD 1049, (HP 678) – which eliminates the Duty to Inform a Law Enforcement Officer When Carrying a Concealed Handgun Without a Permit.
As for the anti-gun bills being heard on March 26th, I am asking that you OPPOSE LD 677 (SP 292), which expands the definition of a machine gun and makes it a crime to own a “rapid-fire device,” LD 953, (SP 409) – which expands the definition of machine gun by including frames, receivers, and parts, LD 1109, (HP 728) – which bans the possession of "high capacity" magazines, and LD 1126, (HP 745) – which requires all firearms to be serialized and bans certain 3-D printed firearms and "undetectable firearms."
Please uphold the U.S. and Maine Constitutions and defend my Second Amendment rights on March 26th. Gun Owners of America will keep me, and our other Maine supporters informed of how you choose to vote.
