I oppose AB 1127!
I am writing to express my strong opposition to Assembly Bill 1127, which would ban so-called “convertible pistols” by expanding California’s already excessive firearm restrictions. By redefining semi-automatic pistols as “convertible” simply because they could supposedly be modified, AB 1127 sets a dangerous precedent for future gun bans.
It’s no secret that AB 1127 is a disguised ban on Glock handguns and dozens of its clones – and this is one of the most widely used and trusted firearms in the world. Glocks are carried by law enforcement, military personnel, and responsible civilians across the country due to their reliability and ease of use. By specifically targeting the firearm’s potential for modification, this bill unreasonably affects potential Glock purchasers and restricts access to one of the most popular handguns available. This is a clear indication that this legislation is not about safety but about a piece-meal gun ban.
California’s restrictive handgun roster already prevents the sale of modern Glock models that are designed to be incompatible with so-called “Glock switches,” yet AB 1127 further punishes legal firearm purchasers by limiting their choices while criminals will continue to operate without regard for the law. California is now scrambling to fix a problem of its own making—blocking access to modern, safer handgun models and then blaming legal gun owners for the consequences.
AB 1127 will not yield the intended results of solving the problem of criminal firearm misuse – which should be our focus. Instead, this does nothing but increase unnecessary government regulations which hurts lawful, responsible citizens who simply yearn to protect their families and homes. That I why I stand with Gun Owners of California and urge you to oppose AB 1127.
I oppose AB 1127!
I’m writing today to voice my firm opposition to Assembly Bill 1127. This legislation seeks to ban so-called “convertible pistols” by once again expanding California’s already overreaching firearm laws. Under AB 1127, semi-automatic pistols could be reclassified as “convertible” based solely on hypothetical modifications—setting a troubling precedent for future firearm restrictions.
Let’s be honest: this bill is a thinly veiled attempt to outlaw Glock handguns and similar models. Glocks are among the most widely used firearms by law enforcement, the military, and millions of law-abiding citizens because they’re reliable, easy to use, and trusted. Targeting them over the possibility of modifications doesn’t improve safety—it just strips away the rights of responsible gun owners and shrinks the pool of lawful options.
The state’s handgun roster already blocks newer Glock models that are specifically engineered to be incompatible with so-called "Glock switches." Instead of addressing the real issue—criminal misuse—AB 1127 doubles down on punishing legal gun owners while bad actors will continue to ignore these rules entirely.
If the goal is truly public safety, this bill misses the mark. It burdens law-abiding citizens with even more red tape, while doing nothing to curb crime. I stand with Gun Owners of California in urging you to reject AB 1127 and focus on legislation that actually addresses criminal behavior, not lawful gun ownership.
