Public-Works Prevailing Wage Mandate
As a resident of your district, I am writing you to strongly oppose legislation that mandates “public-works prevailing wages” for economic development construction projects undertaken by businesses, non-profit service providers, hospitals, education institutes and others (for example, S.1947/A.1261).
Adding an expensive prevailing wage mandate to state and local economic development programs will defeat the purpose of those initiatives. New York State needs more private sector investments and jobs and therefore should not be making it more costly for employers to grow and expand here.
I urge you to help create a more competitive economic climate for New York State, and to vote against legislation that makes it harder to invest and create jobs.
