Time to update your policies
Hello,
I am writing to request that Wish stop selling headless sex dolls, spycams marketed for filming women nude without their permission, and misogynistic apparel such as t-shirts with nude women on them.
You have already removed child-like sex dolls. Please do the same for these other degrading items.
When shopping apps normalize the degradation of women, it impacts not only the consumers but also the whole marketplace - it encourages other marketplaces to follow your lead. Please make the socially responsible choice and create a new policy against promoting sexually exploitive content!
Something to fix
Will you remove anti-woman content from your app and website?
As you know, there is no longer any room for sexually degrading messages about women in this #MeToo culture. Unfortunately, Wish is promoting materials with marketing tactics for spycams specifically to stalk women and spy on them while they undress or have sex. Does Wish defend or endorse this behavior? If not, Wish must remove this material. While certainly any nanny cam can be misused, Wish is promoting products that have marketing imagery specifically advertising for the use of spycams and nanny cams to target women, something that is a crime in many places.
Wish is also selling many clothing items where women are shown without clothes, or where there is animated/cartoon female nudity. Please don’t promote products that minimize women as two dimension sex objects.
Customer service request
Wish needs to stop selling sex dolls!
Clearly, these dolls are portraying women as literal sex objects, which contributes to coarsened social respect for women or values of consent. As Dr. Maras and Dr. Shapiro note in the Journal of Internet Law, sex dolls “have the potential of altering individuals’ views and perceptions of relationships, ultimately, having them interact with humans as they would with the dolls and robots.”
I am thankful you removed child-like sex dolls, but you still need to remove several headless sex dolls on the site.
Wish has a heavy hand in normalizing and promoting the use of sex dolls in America by selling them on its platform. I’m writing to request that Wish remove these items immediately.
