Support workers and reform overtime
In 2017, the legislature passed a bill that limits the number of overtime hours that manufacturing employees are allowed to work in a week. This new law made it illegal for me to work more than 60 hours a week, even when I want to! It has resulted in less take home pay for my family, and I ask for your help in changing it.
The 2017 limits to overtime are fundamentally unfair for Oregon workers. Manufacturing employees should have the choice to work more hours if they want to.
This law has only been around for a year, and it needs to be changed. I ask you to support changes to Oregon’s overtime law that would allow workers, like me, to work more hours. The state shouldn’t limit how much money I can earn.
Please assist workers, like me, by supporting HB 2175 and SB 110.
Thank you.
Please support reforming overtime
I believe lawmakers had good intentions when they passed a bill changing overtime laws in Oregon in 2017. However, the law has had some unfortunate impacts on families like mine.
The new law capped the number of hours manufacturing workers like me can work in a given work week. It is now illegal for me to work more than 60 hours a week at my job, even if I want to! Because of this law, my income has been significantly reduced and my family is being forced to look into options to make up the difference.
