I understand you have a choice – make Santee Cooper customers pay for it’s billions of dollars in debt, or sell the utility to a private company that will pay it. That’s a no-brainer, and I can’t imagine you would force your constituents to pay higher electricity prices, which is what you are doing if you don’t vote for the sale. I hope you are not going to make me pay higher utility bills, and that you support the sale of Santee Cooper.

I hope you will support the sale of Santee Cooper. There is no alternative, South Carolina must either agree to sell the troubled utility to a private sector company who can erase it’s near-$9 billion debt, or hold on to it and make customers like me pay for it. My vote is to move on and sell Santee Cooper. I ask you to support the sale as well. We can’t afford the debt. Please don’t fail to act. It’s time to move on.
