Do NOT support S1760/A1240
I’m employed as a tipped worker at a restaurant. I ask you NOT to support S1760/A1240, which would eliminate the restaurant tip credit. The tip credit helps keep labor costs down for the restaurant I work at, while allowing me to earn more than just the minimum wage in tips. When the tip credit was eliminated in Maine, tipped workers rallied and had it reinstated after their take-home pay decreased. Tipped workers also launched an effective campaign to keep the tip credit in Washington D.C. Please listen to my voice and not Hollywood celebrities who have nothing to lose if the tip credit is eliminated in New York.

Please keep the restaurant tip credit
As a constituent and someone who works in the restaurant industry, I ask you to NOT support S1760/A1240, which would eliminate the restaurant tip credit. I have a lot to lose if the tip credit is eliminated and my employer is forced to reduce work hours, increase workload and increase menu prices on customers who are already price sensitive. Please keep the restaurant tip credit so I can keep earning tips and keep my job at the restaurant.

Save my tip income
As a constituent and restaurant worker, I’ve been able to make good money under the current tip credit system, but my income is jeopardized if S1760/A1240 is enacted, which would eliminate the restaurant and bar industry tip credit. Our industry has already seen workers get their hours cut and even lost jobs and closed restaurants. We’ve also seen restaurants eliminate tipping and pay lower hourly wages to help offset all the increasing costs of doing business in NYC. Please help save my tip income and save the tip credit in the hospitality industry to preserve jobs like mine across the state.

Please oppose S1760/A1240
I am a constituent and work in the hospitality industry. I would like to voice my opinion against S1760/A1240, which would eliminate the tip credit system. I have seen a lot of false claims about the issue and want to make sure you hear from people like me who work firsthand in the industry. New York can reduce wage theft and harassment in the hospitality industry by focusing on enforcement of the laws, and not by eliminating the tip credit. Eliminating the tip credit can result in many hospitality workers losing money when people tip and order less due to higher menu prices. Or, we could be out of our jobs if the restaurants can’t afford it and closes, just like so many of the other businesses that are now vacant store fronts around the city. As a tipped restaurant worker, I urge you to strongly oppose S1760/A1240.
