Protect the Second Amendment and Vote No On H.R. 8, H.R. 1112, and S. 42
I am writing today to ask you to oppose H.R. 8, H.R. 1112, and S. 42.
These bills do nothing to address America’s broken mental health system, and only affect law-abiding Americans.
H.R. 8 and S. 42 are “universal” background check schemes that only hurt law-abiding citizens and erode our Constitutional rights.
According to the Obama Justice department, the only way to enforce these schemes is to create a national gun registry.
Further, those intent on harming others will do so with or without a background check. Federal studies have found that criminals typically obtain firearms by stealing them, off the black market or via “straw purchases,” which are already illegal. In addition, background checks have failed to stop several mass shooters and terrorists who, because they had clean records, actually passed background checks.
H.R. 1112, creates an arbitrary delay in purchasing firearms. This will only affect Americans who follow the law and will force them to wait to defend themselves.
As these bills move through the legislative process, I hope that you will keep these views in mind. This issue is very important to me and to our nation’s future. Please oppose H.R. 8, H.R. 1112, and S. 42; instead put your efforts toward addressing the root problem of violent crime.
Please Oppose any Attempt to Impose any Universal Background Check Legislation
I am writing today to ask you to oppose H.R. 8, H.R. 1112, and S. 42. These gun control bills will not have any affect on crime or criminals and they do not address the underlying causes of violence in America.
H.R. 8 and S.42 are so-called “universal” background check bills that will only hurt law-abiding citizens and erode our Constitutional rights.
While I share the goal of reducing violent crime, the fact is that according to the Obama Justice department, the only way to enforce this scheme is to create a national gun registry.
Further, those intent on harming others will do so with or without a background check. Federal studies have found that criminals typically obtain firearms by stealing them, off the black market or via “straw purchases,” which are already illegal.
H.R. 1112 allows the government to set arbitrary delays on firearm purchases that will only affect law-abiding gun owners and will do nothing to stop criminals who obtain their firearms through illegal channels including the black market.
As these bills move through the legislative process, I hope that you will keep these views in mind. This issue is very important to me and to our nation’s future. Please oppose H.R. 8, H.R. 1112, and S. 42; and instead put your efforts toward addressing the root problem of violent crime.
I Urge you to Oppose any Universal Background Check Legislation
I’m writing to you today to ask that you OPPOSE H.R. 8, H.R. 1112, and S. 42.
H.R. 8 and S. 42 only put further burdens on law-abiding gun owners and will do nothing to stop crime. Criminals aren’t going through a background check to get a firearm; they are stealing their guns or obtaining them through straw purchasers! Please stop creating more gun laws! Start enforcing the tens of thousands of laws on the books!
The “Charleston loophole” is not a loophole at all! H.R. 1112 simply creates an arbitrary delay in the firearm purchasing process. This could leave Americans defenseless for over 20 business days while they wait for the FBI to approve their purchase while criminals can obtain their guns through the black market or theft!
As your constituent, I urge you to oppose H.R. 8, H.R. 1112, and S 42 in addition to any other gun control legislation that would only impact law-abiding Americans.
Please Vote Against H.R. 8, H.R. 1112, and S. 42
As an avid supporter of the Second Amendment and a constituent in your state, I am asking you to oppose H.R. 8, H.R. 1112, and S. 42.
The enforcement of “universal” background checks is a complete abuse of our Second Amendment rights.
H.R. 8 and S. 42, along with other “universal” background check legislation, will hinder individuals like me from acquiring a gun for self-defense. I rely on my firearms every day, I use them for many activities such as hunting, target shooting, as well as protecting my home.
H.R. 1112 imposes firearm purchase delays that could exceed 20 business days. These arbitrary delays make it more difficult for law-abiding Americans to defend themselves as well as their families.
Gun control supporters believe that background checks and waiting periods on gun sales will reduce violent crime, but it will only make it harder for law-abiding gun owners to purchase firearms. Criminals will not go through a background check to purchase a firearm because, by definition, they do not follow the law.
Please stand up for the gun owners in your state by voting “no” to H.R. 8, H.R. 1112, and S. 42 as well as any other legislation that harms law-abiding gun owners!
These bills do nothing to address America’s broken mental health system, and only affect law-abiding Americans.

Protect the Second Amendment and Oppose H.R. 8, H.R. 1112, and S. 42
As your constituent and a strong supporter of our Second Amendment, I write today urging you to oppose any new gun control measures, including the latest bills placing undue burdens on law-abiding Americans; H.R. 8, H.R. 1112, and S. 42.
H.R. 8 and S. 42 are the gun control movement’s latest attempt to restrict the rights of law-abiding citizens by criminalizing the private transfer of firearms. Those bills are nothing more than feel good measures that will do nothing to address the root cause of violent crime. Instead of introducing legislation aimed at curtailing the rights of law-abiding Americans, Congress should focus on reforming our broken mental health system and providing law enforcement with every tool necessary to protect our schools and strengthen our communities.
H.R. 1112 adds more undo burdens to law-abiding gun owners. This bill creates an arbitrary delay in the firearm purchasing process that will make it more difficult for an individual to protect themselves or their family.
Please defend the Constitution and protect the Second Amendment. Please stand strong and oppose H.R. 8, H.R. 1112, and S. 42.
Protect the Second Amendment and Oppose any "Universal" Background Check Legislation
As your constituent, I am writing to ask you to oppose H.R. 8, H.R. 1112 and S.42, legislation that places undue burdens on law-abiding gun owners and doesn’t address the causes of violent crime.
Criminals, by their very nature, don’t follow the law. These so-called “universal” background check bills will only add new regulation and hardship on law-abiding citizens and will be ignored by the very criminals it is meant to address. Criminals and those wishing to do harm will continue to acquire firearms the way they always have; the black market, straw purchases, and theft. Even the Obama Justice department stated that a “universal” background check law would be unenforceable without requiring gun registration. Without a complete database of all firearm serial numbers, how could this possibly be enforced?
Adding an arbitrarily defined delay in the purchasing process of a firearm will only affect law-abiding Americans who are trying to defend themselves. As stated above, criminals will go through other channels to acquire their firearms making H.R. 1112 only affect those of us obeying the law.
For these reasons, and many more, I urge you to oppose the burdensome and ineffective H.R. 8, H.R. 1112, and S. 42.
Don’t Criminalize Private Firearm Transfers
As a law abiding gun owner and your constituent, I urge you to oppose H.R. 8, H.R. 1112, and S. 42. These bills do not address America’s broken mental health system and ignore the causes of violent acts.
“Universal” background check (UBCs) legislation will do nothing to advance our shared goal of reducing violent crime and will only affect already law-abiding gun owners like myself.
The term “universal” background check is also extremely misleading, as it will only apply to those who already obey the law. According to a Department of Justice study, 77 percent of criminals in state prison for firearm crimes gain access to firearms through theft, the black market, or “on the street.” The same study showed less than one percent acquired their firearms from dealers or non-dealers at gun shows.
H.R. 1112 will make it more difficult for law-abiding gun owners to defend themselves and their family and imposes an arbitrary delay on firearm purchases.
If we truly want to reduce violent crime then Congress should support the Attorney General’s effort to prosecute all violent crimes to the fullest extent of the law.
Thank you for your attention and I urge you to oppose H.R. 8, H.R. 1112, and S. 42.
