I am a cigar enthusiast, and the proposed restrictions in H.B. 749 will greatly impact the ability of adults to enjoy a legal product. An 18 to 20 year old is of legal age to defend our country, choose our nation’s leaders, and serve on juries to administer justice. If this legislation is enacted, they will have the ability to influence the future of our country, but not the freedom to make the personal choice to enjoy a cigar as a legal adult. The proposed legislation is misguided and unnecessary government overreach. Please protect our freedoms and vote NO on H.B. 749!

I am a supporter of my local retail tobacconist. The proposed age restrictions in H.B. 749 will encourage consumers to make the short drive to neighboring states to purchase legal tobacco products, rather than supporting the local economy. Not only would this misguided age restriction greatly impact the ability of adults to enjoy a legal product, it will negatively impact small businesses in our state and create a black market. Please help protect local small businesses from overregulation. I respectfully request that you vote no on H.B. 749!

The proposed age restrictions in H.B. 749 may have unintended, negative consequences. Restricting access to certain products will not necessarily prevent use and may lead to increased smuggling and crime. A new age restriction policy will undoubtedly criminalize otherwise law-abiding citizens and increase the market for trafficking. Please don't vote for a bill that could lead to increased illegal activity in our state! Please vote NO on H.B. 749.
