As a small business retail tobacconist, I request your support for SB 1347, sponsored by Senator David Gowan. The bill corrects a taxation issue we have had with cavendish pipe tobacco. Currently the Department of revenue had no statutory definition of cavendish which caused many cavendish products we sell to be taxed at the incorrect rate, instead of the current luxury tax rate. This bill corrects that issue by placing a true definition of cavendish into statute. I respectfully request your support on this important measure.
