As a voter and supporter of Gun Owners of America, I urge you to oppose the gun control in HR 1585, particularly Sections 801 and 802, along with Title XII. These sections would allow any previous dating partner to convene a “secret court” to strip one’s Second, Fourth, Fifth, and Fourteenth Amendment rights with no due process whatsoever. They could do so by alleging to a pliant judge -- without proving -- that one “scared” the partner or “harassed” them. In addition, the bill would push for the imprisonment of veterans, traffic ticket scofflaws, and others who tried to purchase a gun without realizing the government had taken their Second Amendment rights away from them. Gun Owners of America tells me they plan to score a vote on HR 1585 as an anti-gun vote. So please stand for the Second Amendment and act to COMPLETELY remove the gun control in HR 1585.
