That means I oppose: * Bans on private sales, transfers, loans or gifts; * Bans on sound suppressors; * Bans on common semi-automatic firearms and magazines; * Gun Confiscation Orders known as “red flag” laws; * Repeal of preemption which will allow local gun bans; and * Reinstatement of the failed one-gun-a-month law. But I don’t think that pursuing gun control “lite” is the answer either. I’m talking about the policy initiatives that you are reportedly pushing: tougher penalties for firearms crimes (like mistakenly carrying a gun into a prohibited place or having a long gun loaded in a car in Fairfax County) and something about mental health (this could be an invasion of the doctor patient relationship -- or, worse, back door gun confiscation). I want you and your fellow Republicans to REJECT any gun control that would INFRINGE upon the Second Amendment rights of Virginians. Instead, please devise an alternative package which repeals the gun bans that left the victims defenseless in Virginia Beach. And enact Constitutional Carry legislation, which will encourage more good men and women to protect themselves, so they will REFUSE to become victims. Gun Owners of America will keep me informed of what you are doing -- and I WILL REMEMBER in November.
