I agree with Gun Owners of America that you should NOT be looking for “common ground” with the Democrats during the special legislative “gun session” in July. If you go the approach of passing gun control “lite,” your party will experience the wrath of gun owners in the fall. Instead, gun owners want to see you forcing proposals that are TRUE legislative accomplishments. I want to see you enact: * Constitutional Carry legislation that enables gun owners to carry concealed firearms without a permit; and, * Penalties for local officials who violate the state’s firearms preemption law. Kate Nixon considered carrying her self-defense firearm to work on May 31. Sadly, she opted instead to obey an illegal city ordinance banning guns for Virginia Beach employees, and she paid with her life. No one should be forced to choose between their job or their life.
