As your constituent, I am writing to insist that you oppose ‘Pink-Slip Gun Control’ (or any similarly named) legislation that would allow a gun owner to have his firearms seized having never been arrested, indicted, or convicted of anything! This legislation destroys any notion of due process and is the end of the cherished American concept of ‘innocent until proven guilty!’ Please understand that there is no amendment, no minor tweak, no improvement that could be made to this bill to make it acceptable to me as a law-abiding gun owner. So whether the bill is sponsored by a Republican or a Democrat, I urge you to oppose this bill at all points in the legislative process. Ohio Gun Owners assures me that they will keep me informed about the status of this bill.

As a gun owner, I am disgusted by the bi-partisan support I see for ‘Pink Slip Gun Seizure’ legislation in Columbus and am writing to make sure you know that I expect you to oppose this legislation! The idea that a gun owner who has never been convicted of a crime could have a liberal judge strip away his firearms rights with no conviction of a crime is a violation of due process and our basic American ideals! Don’t think that gun owners are going to give a pass to lawmakers because of their party affiliation, either. As an Ohioan, a voter, and a gun owner, I expect you to vote against this legislation whether it’s being pushed by the liberal left or the moderate right. Thankfully, Ohio Gun Owners will keep me informed of your actions on this legislation.

‘Red Flag Gun Seizures’ and ‘Pink Slip’ expansions are gun confiscation, pure and simple. And as one of your constituents, I expect you to be opposed to this legislation at every step in the legislative process. This bill allows me to be stripped of my firearms based on the rantings of personal enemies like an ex-spouse, a liberal neighbor, and others -- all before I’ve been convicted of a crime! Frankly I’m stunned that you haven’t come out loudly opposed to this legislation, as I’ve not heard a single gun owner in our state express support for this legislation. I will remember you actions on this bill, so please oppose this in committee and on the floor. In fact, Ohio Gun Owners has happily agreed to keep me up to date on this legislation and how you vote on it, especially in your next elections!

Passing gun-control law after gun-control law after gun-control law, like Governor DeWine's SB221, will never ever succeed in stopping killers. Chicago is a prime example of how much of a failure gun-control really is. Instead, the Ohio General Assembly should be repealing gun-free zones, passing pro-gun bills like Stand-Your-Ground law and Constitutional Carry, and investigating the use of psychotropic drugs that most mass shooters use. As a common-sense voter, it is time to STOP this assault on gun owners and VOTE NO on SB221 or any other gun-control proposal in the Ohio GA. In the wake of the Dayton murders, the cry rose up from the people to "do something." I agree. It is time our General Assembly get to work passing substantive self-defense reforms for Ohio. Specifically, Stand-Your-Ground law would backstop the law-abiding once more and notify the violent criminal class that no longer will Ohio favor the criminal over the citizen! In addition, Constitutional Carry (HB178) would get government out of the rights regulation business and once again put Ohio's criminal class on notice that they face early retirement if they try to attack innocent citizens like myself. Another important area that our General Assembly should focus their efforts is on subpoenaing the pharmaceutical companies' studies on the effects of SSRI/psychotropic drugs on the adolescent brain, as the majority of recent mass killers involve evil people that had been avid users of these drugs in their past. It is time to make criminals in this state afraid again. It is time to make sure that government is not contributing to the creation of these monsters! It is NOT the time to be appeasing radical leftists who want to destroy this beautiful state and country by passing gun-control. After all, if the Second Amendment is destroyed the rest of our rights will go down with it. VOTE NO on every single gun-control proposal, and Ohio Gun Owners will keep me informed as to whether or not you do.

As your constituent, I am writing to let you know that I am absolutely opposed to DeWine’s ‘Pink Slip’ expansion plan for gun-control. As bad as this legislation is, by allowing me to be locked up and my guns taken away before I’ve been convicted of a crime, gun owners know that this is only a place-holder bill. In states that have already passed this legislation, anti-gun lawmakers are already trying to expand the law to allow minors to be hit with a gun seizure order, so that the authorities can disarm the parent, who has been charged with nothing! So please don’t try to snowball me and tell me that you can place safeguards in this bill as justification for your support. With elections coming up, I want you to know that your actions on this bill -- in committee as well as on the floor -- have my full attention. With the pressure over ‘Pink Slip Gun Seizure’ legislation heating up, and legislative leadership talking out of both sides of their mouths about this issue, I assume that you are looking to the NRA for advice on how to proceed. $6,000,000-dollar Wayne LaPierre and his ten-thousand dollar Gucci shoes are dead dead wrong about this legislation. Their support for this bill, directly or indirectly, will not give you a pass from grassroots gun owners like me. This legislation is the definition of tyranny. It allows me to be striped of my firearms before I’ve been arrested, charged or convicted of anything! It allows people who just don’t like me (an ex-spouse, a girlfriend from 15 years ago, a liberal aunt who lives 1,000 miles away) to file bogus complaints against me! And we all know the moment this law passes that Husted and DeWine will be right back the next year to expand it to include ex-parte hearings, so that gun owners know nothing the complaint about until the seizure order has been issued! So I don’t care if the NRA backs this legislation. They were wrong when they supported FIX-NICS legislation, they were wrong when they supported banning bump stocks, and they are wrong about this legislation, too. So as your constituent, I am writing to demand that you vote no on this legislation. Ohio Gun Owners will let me know how you vote on this bill should it come up on the floor.

The Husted/DeWine gun-control bill, SB221, is just another law that killers and criminals will ignore, but that will further clamp down on law-abiding gun owners like me. I'm sick of getting stabbed in the back for being an upstanding citizen. Do your job, vote against these bills, and work instead to pass Constitutional Carry and Stand-Your-Ground law so that criminals in this state are TERRIFIED again! OGO, Ohio's largest gun rights organization, is going to work aggressively to hold politicians accountable for their actions on these issues, whether that is this election or in any future election.
